River, accessible from Primary Highway 42, for wading or floating. It is rated top smallmouth bass fishing. Hungry Mother Park, like Douthat, features a mountain lake. Smyth County is outside the pickerel range, but the bass, trout and panfish are there as are boats with the “electric motor only* regulation. The Middle and North Forks of the HolstonJiiver, both smallmouth bass streams, are within easy driving distance of the park. The little rock bass, more fondly called redeye, is also

abundant in these two streams. Both Hungry Mother and Douthat State Parks are located in trout country and convenient to Douthat are Pounding Mill Creek, Piney Run, Wilson Creek and Smith Creek.
