Ten 4-H Youths
At Forestry Camp
Ten 4-H boys were presented certificates of achievement at the end of the two day 4-H forestry camp just held on C. E. Johnson’s farm near Sperryville. These boys were: Clifford Latham, Ronald Williams, Wade Alther, Tommy Williams, Warren Beebe, Nelson Putnam, Robert Harris. Charles Corder, E. J. Pullen, and Kenneth Corder. Boys received instructions in the field and woods on tree seeding and planting, poisoning of undesirable trees, tree indentification, and pruning. Instruction and demonstration in forest fire prevention and control were also included. Instructions were given by William McElfresh, Assistant Extension Forester from V. P. I., Raymond Johnson, Chief Fire Warden of Rappahannock, Bill Vernam of the Virginia Department of Forestry, Extension Agents, Bill Lyne and Arils Frymyer. William McElfresh also showed slides of some of his work while in Oregon. A high scoring softball game was part of the recreational program. Tents jtere provided by local boys jflpeut troop No. 64. !WThis 4-H forestry camp for younger club members was sponsored by the Agricultural Extension Service and the Burkeville Veneer Corp.
Lodge Group Will Attend Church
Members of Washington Masonic Lodge #78 are requested to attend as a group the services at Reynolds Memortal Baptist Church, Sperryville, Sunday, June 23, at 10 a.m. to pay homage to St. John's Day. Pews will be reserved for the group.
