In case you have been disturbed by an unusual commotion by day and flashing lights by night beneath the Peak in Harris Hollow, maybe we can offer some explanation.
Beginning Friday, June 14 and ending Sunday, June 16, Troop 685 Boy Scouts from Fairfax .County Annandale area, forty strong, pitched their tents on Bellevue Farm and organized for action. If one can discount the confusion of lost cars in the side lanes and trails searching for the initial rendezvous, the whole affair came off with perfect planning. The Scouts completed a pioneering project consisting of a twenty-seven foot high platform tower of native materials. There was a demonstration of six horses and equipment by Mary Miller Wood,Mike Forward, Jim Forward and John Baumgardner . On Sunday morning there was a religious service followed by a hike up the Devil’s Stairs. Add to this, the usual scouting^ctivities
of preparing a c^np, cooking meals, and anbccasional swim in a nearby pond, it is easy to see that a busy weekend was had by all.
Mr. Paul Nichols, scoutmaster at Flint Hill visited the boys and participated in their campfire activities.
The Troop was duly impressed by Rappahannock County and looks forward to a future campout in the area.
