A four day carnival with activities of special interest each night in planned by the Washington Volunteer Fire Department and Rappahannock Rescue Squad beginning Wednesday, June 26 through Saturday 29th onhighway211 and 522 between Old Mill Snack Bar and Lake Motel.
According to Robert Brock, Chairman of the parade more than 100 units have accepted the invitation to participate in the Friday night parade and more are expected, pointing toward the most ambitious carnival and parade activites ever undertaken by this stroup.
Special activities Wednesday night will feature a Water Contest and Hose Battle which is actually a drill and exercise to train firemen in directing a steady stream of water under the most adverse circumstances. The hose battle affords greatentertainment for spectators but puts the mettle of the Firemen involved to a real test. Participating companies for the contest will be announced next week. Later in the evening the Country Counts of Luray will furnish string music and free entertainment.
On Thursday the 27th Fredericksburg Rescue Squad j will give a life saving demonstration furnishing all the necessary equipment and actors to show the things involved in this operation.They also will show methods of removing victims from wrecked automobiles. On hand to demonstrate modern fire fighting equipment will be John Bean of Winchester j with pit fires, foamandfury. At 9 p.m. the Jaguars of Warrenton will be on hand with their popular 5 piece Rock and Roll Combo to stage a Hootenanny.
