Gives Scholarships
Winners of the nursing scholarships authorized by the Warren-RappahannockClarke Tuberculosis Association prior to the merger into a larger area organization, the Tuberculosis and Health Association of Northern Virginia, are Miss Karen Wallace of John S. Mosby Academy, Front Royal and Miss Dorothy Payne of Rappahannock County High School, in the amount of one hundred dollars each. As encouragement to interest young people to enter health careers, the association has given scholarships in a token amount to help them during their probationary period until they are eligible for other types of assistance, or scholarships from other sources. “Most of our institutions have a shortage of nurses” Mrs. Gladys Lewis Harris, Executive Director of the association, said, “and this is one way the voluntary agency can help in seeing that the health needs of the community are met.”
Methodist Ministers Receive Appointments
The annual conference of Methodist Churches was held last week at Virginia Beach, at which time ministers received new appointments. The Rev. Ralph Stalter, pastor of Amissville Methodist Church, was transferred to Montross, and will be succeeded by the Rev. James L. Harrison. Rev. Harrison and* his family will move Thursday to the parsonage at Jeffersonton. He also serves Jeffersonton which compris-i es the Little Fork Charge. Many residents of Rappahannock will be interested in the transfers of the Rev. A. D. Goodson and the Rev. Claude Cook.
