Before installing a home pool, health and safety regulations should be checked. These include provision for proper fencing, sanitation, drainage, structural stability, proper distance from property and power lines and other precautions. This applies particularly to homebuilt or portable pools. Fences and gates should be adequate to prevent youngsters from entering when the pool is unattended. Equipment for assistance to swimmers in distress should be kept at poolside. Reputable swimming pool construction companies know the regulations, as well as the specifications for filtering systems and disinfectant chemicals.
