A brilliant display of fire works attracted a large attendance last night when the Amissville Fire Company opened its annual carnival. The four night carnival will continue tonight, Friday and Saturday nights, August 15, 16 and 17. Tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m there will be a grand parade with many entries which include, group and solo majorettes, fire and rescue equipment, civic and commercial floats, comic entries, and a host of beauty queens and honorary fire chiefs. Also scheduled for the parade are a number of bands among which are Knights of Erin, Harpers Ferry, Charles Town, Osborne and others. A plate supper will be available on the grounds after the parade. A carnival queen will be crowned Friday night. She will be selected from among the eight queen contestants who are Susan O’Halloran,
