Now we nad an official or - ganization. .A . fund-raising campaign was started and vpr lunteers went right ahead clearing the grounds, restoring the building and collecting books. Our good neighbors, the Armstrong Foundation of Winchester sent, us a very substantial donation; our Board of Supervisors made a most welcome gift of $1,000. Most out - of - town people helped us in many ways. A total of $9,760.93 has been collected from all sources to date. We have been blessed in many ways. The highly qualified librarians, the Misses Josephine and Anna May Stambaugh, are now making their home in Washington and are helping us with their technical skills.
Mr. William Carrigan hag accepted the chairmanship 6f the Board and has'been thfe strong coordinating force be^hind us. Each district of the County is represented by a good com mittee. You will meet them all at the High School later this morning. I have enjoyed work ing with them all, and all the volunteers who have worked so hard to make this something to be proud of. I want to stress that this is a Community Effort. It is the result of the work of Many People. We invite everyone to Use the Library and have a direct part in it. Thank you.
