Traffic Deaths Climb
For First Nine Months
Colonel C. W. Woodson, Jr., Superintendent of State Police and Chairman of the Governor’s Highway Safety Committee, reported today that Virginia entered the last and most dangerous quarter of the year with 49 more traffic deaths than were experienced during the last three months of 1962. As of October 1, 1963, Virginia’s score stood at 704 to compare badly with the 675 for the same period of 1962. The 1963 score, he said, would have been-far worse had it not been for a drastic drop from 100 death's occurring last September to 68 this! September. As of September 1, deaths were 58 above those of 1962.
