Centennial Convention of Virginia Education Assoc.
The Centenniel Convention of the Virginia Education Association was held in Richmond Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, October 30, 31 and November 1. Attending from Rappahannock County School were Miss Luerena Zlnn, Miss Elsie Dodson and Mrs. Myra Wolf. The group was addressed by Governor Albertis Harrison as well as Dr. William G. Carr, executive secretary of the National Education Association and its president, Robert H. Wyatt. A featured speaker was Sir Ronald Gould of England, president of the World Confederate of Organizations of the Teaching Profession, who said that teachers were a professional group arid should be treated as such. The community should recognize the teaching profession and give it the respect and support due all professions of high calling. He called people of this profession to action and advised them to raise their standards by better preparation for teaching, salary scale, and code of ethics.
