Southern States
Meeting
E.M. Jones of Washington, Va. will represent Southern States Cooperative members in this area as delegate to the Cooperative’s 40th annual stockholders meeting at Richmond, Va., on November 14 and 15. Also attending will be Eee Thorton of Sperryville, Va., manager of Southern States Cooperative Service in this section.
Two of the highlights of this year’s session will be the presentation of the annual report of operations by General Manager W. T. Steele Jr., on Thursday morning November 14, and an elaborate product show to be held that afternoon.
Other features of this year’s meeting will include confirmation of four new directors, a live hootenanny and an address by Burl St. Clair of Falls of Rough, Ky„ president of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation for 10 years who became a public director of the cooperative last year.
Southern States President Hubert Snodgrass of Street, Md., will preside at most of the sessions and will deliver his annual message to delegates.
An attendance of about 1700 delegates, guests and the cooperative’s own personel from a five-state region is expected.
