This film was produced by Colonial Williamsburg in association with Paramount Pictures, and is shown daily at the Information Center in Williamsburg.
The town of Williamsburg, capital of the colony, was the ideological training ground of a group of Virginians who played leading roles in the American Revolution. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry were among them. The film introduces the view er to Williamsburg scenes and to the historic events and the basic ideas of freedom forged there. The film’s principal figure, John Fry, is a composite chan acter - a typical planter-burgess who mirrors the effects of the growing rift with the mother country. But fiction is kept to a minimum.
