Herbert Lee Hitt of Amissville died Sunday March 1, 1964 in a Front Royal hospital Son of the late William L. Hitt and Lena Whprton Hitt and a native of Rappahannock County, he was 65. He is survived by one brother, Horace L. Hitt of Mitchells; one sister Mrs. Charles Green of Amissville. seven half-brothers, Charlie, Lewis, Turner and Downing Hitt, all of Castleton, Arthur and Taylor Hitt, both of Culpeper, and Robert Lee Hitt of Reading, Pa.; six half-sisters, Mrs. Lena Shiflett of Greene County, Mrs. Annie Weakley of Mitchells, Mrs. Irma Jen< Jtins of. Washington, Va., Mrs. . Lucille Dillinger of Alexandria, Mrs. Jessie Weakley of Madison and Mrs. Eva Kackley of Culpeper, and his stepmother, Mrs. Delsie Hitt of Culpeper. * A jjraveside funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Whorton family cemetery near Castleton, the Rev. John B. Hodge conducting the last rites. Pallbearers were Woodrow Coughlin, F r ank Parker, Charles Hitt Jr., Roy Lee Knighting, F rank Knighting, Floyd Hitt, Charles H. Hitt; and Norman Grimsley. Arrangements were made by the Geest funeral home.
