1964 Feed Grain

For 1964 the Feed Grain Program is voluntary and has an added advantage of allowing the farmer with a feed grain base to divert up to 50% of his base. Also in 1964 if as much as 40% of the base is diverted the farmer receives the maximum payment on the acres diverted. An example of this is: John Doe has a base of 10 acres, he diverts 5 acres and raises 5 acres of corn, his diversion payment is $183.30 and if he raises the 5 acres of corn and otherwise complies, he will receive a price support payment of $7.80 per acre of another $39.00, making a total of $222.30. This averages $44.46 per acre for setting aside 5 acres for 6 months. This farm is the county average - yours may be a little higher or lower. Had this farmer decided to divert the whole 10 acres his payment would have been $366.60. The sign-up period is from February 10, 1964 through March 27, 1964. To date 36 farmers in Rappahannock County have signed to participate in this program and received their advance payments. 'Do not forget to sign up for ACP help if you have not done so.
