Library Holds First
Fall Board Meeting
Thursday evening ten of the eighteen board members met at the library to chart plans for the fall and winter. Four of the six districts were represented. Wm. M. Car rig an, chairman, opened the meeting by welcoming the Stambaugh sisters who have just returned from their Wisconsin vacation camp. The chairman laid special stress on the need for more programming for the library in the coming months. The secretary, Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Jr., reported that over 200 attended the Fourth of July Indian Art Exhibit and Lectures and that we should do things to bring more people lo. the library., A resolution was proposed to have Mrs. Johnson write to the artmobile in Richmond to try to schedule a visit here. Mrs. Quaintance will check to see if a stop could be.made at the school at the same time. Another'resolution provided for a panel book review and discussion, probably in October. Mr. Ed Harris will head that program. The Board welcomed the plan of the arts and crafts group to exhibit and demonstrate during the House Tour in late October. They will use the library several days. Ned Jones was authorized to see what could be done about removing the walnut tree which is damaging the back of the library. A list of nominees were sleeted to present to Judge Snead that .he may appoint one to fill the office of trustee vacated by Mrs. B. M. Miller? Mrs. Miller who has served so faithfully as trustee and treasurer will continue on the |i Board as Treasurer.
The chairman proposed a resolution that the library board consider the possibility of •mothering* a historical society to emphasize the need of preserving and protecting things and places of historic interest in the county. Since the Board has from the very
