An important new market for poplar and walnut logs from this area has been established with the construction of Helms Veneer Corporation at Rocky Mount, Va. The construction of this new plant will provide a new source of income for the producers of poplar and walnut logs in this section. The new facility, which is expected to begin operations around October 1, with a plant investment of several million dollars, will include a six-foot band mill and a two-slicer and one staylog face veneer plant.
