Around The County Now that apples are so very plentiful you may want some new ideas for including them in your menus. There is a bulletin available to you through our office called “Apples Around the Clock". This bulletin was prepared by food specialists at VPI and contains a variety of apple recipes. If you would like a copy please notify our office, and request bulletin 231.
Two home demonstration clubs had the demonstration on “Tailoring Techniques* dui1 ing the last week. Mrs. Standish Riley and Mrs. C. R. Priest gave the demonstration to the Amissville Club on Monday night at the Fire Hall, and I gave the demonstration to the Castleton Club on Tuesday night at the Fire Hall. The demonstration highlighted basic tailoring techniques which helps to achieve a professional look in home tailor -

will receive the tailoring demonstration at their meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10th, at the home of Miss Nellie Johnson. The Flint Hill club fyill receive it on Tuesday, Sept. 15th at 7:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall. The Chester Gap Club will have a demonstration on upholstering furniture this month at their meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10th, at 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, September 16th at 10:00 a.m. the County Home Demonstration Officers and the Home Demonstration Club presidents will meet in the Extension office to make plans for the Home Demonstration Club Achievement Day Program. This meeting is very important, so I hope that the officers and presidents will make a special effort to attend.
The Arts and Crafts Committee are continuing to make plans for the basket making workshop oq^ October 14th. Please don’t forget to let us know if you are interested in participating.
