Apple Growers

Meeting Scheduled

A meeting for apple growers and processors in the Appalachia Area “Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia* has been set for Friday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. EST in Glaize Brothers Packing Shed, Winchester. This was announced jointly today by the Apple Marketing Committee of each of the four state Farm Bureau Marketing Association. Ben R. Lacy, III of Front Royal who will preside at the meeting stated, 'that the apple growers of the Appalachia Area are entitled to the best and most up to date information concerning factors influencing the economics of the apple industry”. Mr. Lacy said that apple growers from New York, Michigan and Ohio as well as the Appalachia Area will be present to discuss the current crop conditions in their respective states. . . crop estimate by varieties, quality, maturity dates, anticipated fertility, grower and processor attitudes. A. T. Lassier, Jr., manager of the Virginia Farm Bureau Marketing Association stated that the Friday night meeting is open to all Apple Growers and processors in the area and urged all interested growers to attend. He said that representatives from the American and Virginia Farm Bureau Federation would be on hand.
