Brief Close-Down
Rappahannock Manufacturing Company near Flint Hill began production Monday, December 14 after a brief close down lasting only a few weeks. The plant, which employs about 150, manufactures Aileen ladies wear. According to Mr. Raymond Riley, manager of the plant, a limited number.of employees returned to their jobs Monday, but the work force will be built up as work becomes available. Summer merchandise is being made now and it is expected that the plant will be operating at full capacity in the near future. Mr. Riley expressed optimism in the future of the industry here; that the facilities will be utilized to the fullest. Contrary to rumors, no machinery has been removed from the plant since the close down, said Mr. Riley. \ In a phone conversation Monday night with Mr. Charles Adlis, a company official, he stated that this was the off season in the clothing manufacturing industry. A new manufacturing outlet has been established inStrasburg where a complete selection of first quality Aileen merchandise is available.
