Fire gutted the interior of Cross Creek Dance Hall near Amissville at 2 a.m. Sunday morning while a dance was still in progress. One person, a member of the band, , was overcome by smoke and fumes and was hospitalized in Fauquier Hospital. A number o( people were slightly burned before they could make their way to the exit and J. P. Morgan, owner of the establishment, sustained burns of the hand when he attempted to contain the fire until Amissville Fire Company arrived.!
