A letter concerning a Rappahannock native has recently come to our attention. He is James Franklin Amory, Commercial Attache to the American Embassy in Bern, Switzerland. Mr. Amory was born in Flint Hill in 1917, the son of Mrs. C. P. Amory and the late Mr. Amory and a nephew of the late James M. Settle. The letter written by Mr. Fred Smith, President of Keyes Realty International, Inc. to the American Ambassador, the Honorable William True Davis, Jr., said in pai% “Just a brief note to tell you how greatly Keyes Realty International, Inc. appreciatedthe most competent help which was afforded to us by your Commerical Attache, Mr. James Franklin Amory. He recently met with one of our representatives and gave him a most thorough briefing of the entire economic situation-in Switzerland. ... It is always. so pleasant to become acquainted with an Emhassy staff individual that possesses the competence of Mr. Amory. When we are so fortunate as to be able to work, with such an individual, I feel that both his Ambassador and the State Department should know of the deep gratitude, that we, as citizens, have to be represented by such A knowledgeable person.*
