Each committee will be provided an jOutline of procedure, a chairman will be selected and a work plan established. > The meeting was conducted by the temporary chairman Judge Rayner V. Snead who outlined some of the goals to be set and the advantages to be gained from the Society. Mayor Dorothy Davis gave a review of the work done in the past, particularly in connection with the Jamestown celebration and emphasized the need of an historical society to coordinate this material and continue research on the county before it is lost The main speaker of the evening, Mr. David A. Williams, Professor of History at the University of Virginia set forth excellent guide lines for the infant Society to follow and at the same time cautioning against the pitfalls which plague many historical research programs. A recording of the whole meeting and the talk by Mr. Williams was made on tape for future reference. Several out of town visitors vfere present to see the new Society formed including the Hon. Tom Frost of Warrenton, Everett H. Kerrick, President of the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce and Mr. O. J. Hale, Professor of European History at the University of Virginia.
