The Rappahannock Historical Society celebrated it’s first birthday anniversary with a meeting at the Court House on Tuesday which was also George Washington’s birthday. The meeting had been scheduled for February 8 which is the date for the founding of the County but due to weather conditions it had to be postponed. Speaker for the occasion was Mr. Walter M. Macomber (May-cumber Maine pronunciation) noted architect and re storer who is considered one of the outstanding authorities on colonial architecture. He well justified his reputation in his interesting lecture that was illustrated with slides. He touched on experiences in restoring houses throughout the country in Williamsburg, Kentucky and New England. It seemed most fitting that most of his slides dealt with w^rk at Mount Vernon and his -i.. . ..- ■■
