Bob Pristou - plant Pathologist will give a slide illustrated talk on Corn Diseases. Of primary concern at present is this new disease commonly referred to as Corn Stunt Disease. It broke out in Culpeper County last year. Plays the devil with yields - are there any control measures? How can it be recognized? What can be done about it? Any of you guys remember seeing that field of corn at Dennis Jenkins' place several years ago that was ruined by Southern Leaf Blight? No.ears produced at all. About roasting ear time the whole field had a gray-green frosted appearance. Money, time, use of land, and winter feed supply went "down the drain*. How corned Pristou is, you might say, a crop veterinarian who will tell you about corn diseases and what you can do to prevent and control them.
