New 4-H Award
A two-week trip to Chile may be in prospect for some senior 4-H boy in Virginia this year. It has just been announced that the Chilean Nitrate Educational Bureau will sponsor a special 4-H achievement program. It’s open to senior 4-H boys from 14 to 19. A state award of $200 will be made, either as a scholarship award, or as a trip to the National 4-H Club Congress if quotas allow.
Virginia’s entrant will have one chance in three of winning as he will be competing only with boys from North Carolina and South Carolina, says J. A. Reynolds, associate state 4-H agent at Virginia Tech. Objectives of the program, says Reynolds, are to provide recognition for superior 4-H achievement and an opportu nity for further leadership and character development. Interested senior 4-H boys should get additional details from their Extension agents.
