Letter To Editor
Dear Editor: I always enjoy reading the letters to the Editor and call attention to the letters of recent weeks from county residents voicing an opinion of the state liquor store to be established in Rappahannock County. Frankly, I can’t understand why anyone would waste their time working for the establishment of a liquor store when the county is lacking so many needs that would benefit all the people. It would be nice if some of that energy could go into the establishment of a public dump. When Ed and I first moved to the area two years ago, the first thing I did was to call the Courthouse to ask where we could dispose of trash. We were shocked when we were told we would have to make our arrangements or bury it in our own back yard. Aren’t we being extremely neglectful of the sanitation needs of the county? Its no wonder our roadsides look like public dumps. Another issue that needsattention is the lack of law. I speak particularly of the Flint Hill area. We definitely need more law protection here. The village service station is an after hours hang out. The noise lingers sometimes until dawn making it impossible to sleep unless you can run a fan or air conditioner to drown it out. Also, the speed law is not honored through the village making it extremely hazardous for our youngsters. I believe in First Things First, then proceed to seconds
