Just what I need for those dried arrangements this fall. Musk and Curled thistles are weed pests much to be dreaded. Be a good neighbor. Control yours — keep your plants and seeds at home. The only good thistle is dead thistle!!!! They can take the land. No animal will graze close to them. One or the other has been observed by your scribe at Mrs. Lelia Noye’s place, on Bernie Dahlgren’s farm. One field on the Schaefer farm west of Washington is heavily infested with Curled thistle. Mrs. James Jamieson became concerned after attending our F’asture Weed Control Demonstration at Fletchers where both Musk and Curled thistle were observed. Two fields at High Thicket were later found to be infested - one heavily.
Bill Lyne did some hand spraying for weed control on his lot and lawn. Both Curled and Bull thistle were found in the backyard. Seeds may have been carried across the mountain from Browntown by wind or from anywhere higher up
