S/Sgt. E 6 Daniel C. Clater received a citation and the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service with the U. S. Army in Vietnam. He is the son of Mrs. Lucy Clater of Sperryville and is beginning his seventh year of military service.
The citation stated, in part, that SSgt. Clater had distinguished himself by exceptional meritorious service in connection with military operations against an armed hostile force in Vietnam. He was chief of the medical section in Headquarters Battery of the 92nd Artillery. He was cited for outstanding professional knowledge of all aspects of medical operation, devotion to duty, flexibility of attitude and ingenuity. His performance and the example he set were in keeping with the highest tradition of the military service and reflect the great credit upon himself, his unit and the U. S. Army. SSgt. Clater has served in Germany and Korea in addition to Vietnam. He is presently stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas.
