Score Annual Convention
The first annual convention of Virginia SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) volunteers was held at the John Marshall Hotel in Richmond on June 13 and June 14. SCORE is a voluntary group of retirees who devote a great amount of their time to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns in order to preserve free competitive enterprise, sponsored by the Small Business Administration. SCOPE was organized in October 1964 and is now composed of more than 3,000 members. In Virginia there are 6 chapters and a total membership of 52 volunteers. Among those attending the meeting were Mrs. Elizabeth B. Ragan, Secretary of SCORE in Virginia who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maury W. Brown of Sperryville; Chairman of Northern Virginia SCORE Chapter No. 205, Mr. Percy L. Rogers of Front Royal, and Mrs. Mary Cleverley of Flint Hill, Secretary of the Northern Virginia Chapter.
