Just how much the take-home food purchases averaged, on a per family basis, was determined by apportioning the total outlay equally among the local population. It came to $707 per family.

As for stores selling automotive equipment, including cars, motorcycles and boats, they accounted for $490,000.

Most other retail lines also hit high figures for the year, the report shows.

Those selling general merchandise chalked up a total of $581,000.

Sales in service stations reached $298,000.
