The marriage of Miss Barbara Ellen Lillard and Kenny Lee Payne took place Sunday, June 9, 1968 at one thirty o’clock in the afternoon at the Woodville Baptist Church. Miss Lillard is the daughter of Mrs. Ruth Lillard of Flint Hill and the late Thomas Lillard. Mr. Payne is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Payne of Woodville.
The Rev. B. Gale Titchenell, pastor of the church, performed the double ring ceremony before an altar banked with red roses.
Traditional wedding music and the marches were played by Miss Janet Payne.
The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Earl Lillard of Arlington. Her short gown was of white lace and she carried a bouquet of white carnations, daises and babies breath. Mrs. Jeannetta Hawkins of Arlington was her sister’s matron of honor. Mr. Payne was best man for his son.
A reception following the ceremony was held at the Flint Hill fire hall. A tiered wedding cake topped with a bride and groom was served by Mrs. Jo Ann Lillard of Arlington. Punch was served by Mrs. Alice Pullen and Miss Alice Virginia Pullen, both of Flint Hill. Mrs. Payne chose a pink ensemble with pearl accessories for traveling. After a short wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Payne are making their home at Etlan. Mrs. Payne is employed with Tholand, Inc., Sperryville and Mr. Payne is employed with William N. Lane in the Woodville area.
