Mrs. Tenie Darnell
A funeral service was held Sunday at the graveside in Washington Masonic Cemetery for Mrs. Tenie Blanche Darnell, the Rev. James Adkins officiating.
Mrs. Darnell, 93, of Washington died Friday, June 14, 1968 at the home of Mrs. Tenie Updike near Sperryville where she had been staying during a recent period of ill health. She was the widow of Joseph W. Darnell. She was a native of Rappahannock County, daughter of the late Jonas and Sally Dodson Atkins. Mrs. Darnell was a member of Beech Spring Regular Baptist Church at Sperryville.
Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Bennie Jenkins of Washington, Va., a brother, Athey Atkins of Champaign, 111. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for the service were Wilson Atkins, Cecil Atkins, Lee Atkins, Ebb Atkins, Jonas Atkins and Tony Woodard.
Geest Funeral Home was in charge.
Mrs. Mary B. Hisle
Mrs. Mary B. Hisle, 95, daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Longerbeam Campbell, died on June 9, 1968 at her home in Washington, D. C. She was a former resident of Rappahannock County.
Mrs. Hisle was the widow of Thomas F. Hisle and is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Hisle of Washington, D. C. and Weldon Cline of Culpeper; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
Interment was in Ft. Lincoln j Cemetery in Washington. D.C.
