School Disposition

The Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County recently appointed a committee composed of R. E. Wood, John Walker Jenkins and C. E. Johnson, jr. to advise the Board on the disposition of the Sperryville School property. The committee was directed to make a report at the next meeting of the Board, July 5. The committee members request interested persons to advise them in writing as to their ideas about this property before the meeting.

4-H Activities

Seventy-seven 4-H’ere and parents will leave bright and early Thursday morning for Gettysburg, Pa. on the annual 4-H educational tour. While there, the folks will tour the Battlefield, National Museum and will stop enroute at Harpers Ferry. Our thanks to the following parents who are going along to help: Mrs. E. V. Green, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Poling, Mrs. Horace Scott, Mrs. Franklin Williams, Mrs. B. Gayle Titchenell, Mrs. Dorothy Butler, Mrs. Maud Roy, Mrs. Audrey Brown, Mrs. Mildred Brown and Mrs. Charles Sisk. We're glad to see so many parents support this activity. State 4-H Club Congress will be held June 24-29 on the V.P.I. Campus, Blacksburg. Representing Rappahannock at this annual function will be Amy Palmer, who will help with the style-dress revue; Warren and Bradford Beebe,: participants In the Share-theFun contest and Susan Dodson. During the week’s activities, these club members will have a chance to participate in various discussion sessions dealing with problems that confront them today, to see the State Demonstration Contests Style-Revue and Share-TheFun Program. They will have a chance to hear Dr. Evelyn Duvall, outstanding authority on marriage and family life and Miss Marilyn Van Derbur, a former Miss America. The week is packed full of activities and is really a wonderful learning experience which the Club members will long remember.
