The Virginia dairy industry provides full employment to approximately 25,000 people, and part-time support to many thousands of people associated with related food industries and dairy supply and service industries. The dairy industry has a larger fleet of trucks than any other industry. It also is one of the largest users of glass, tin, paper, and plastic packaging materials. It is a major customer for stainless steel, glass piping, building tile, rubber, fuel, and uses tons of sugar, fruit6 and other flavoring materials.
Winchester To Host
Firemen’s Convention
Several hundred volunteer firemen and members of their auxiliaries from 27 counties in northern Virginia will convene in Winchester, June 2021-22 for the 1968 convention of Northern Virginia Firemen’s Convention. Representatives are expected from 45 fire departments and 22 auxiliaries. The George Washington Hotel will be convention headquarters and meetings will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20. A parade will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday.
