A fire last Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Eileen Davis at Chester Gap left her kitchen a charred shambles and the rest of the house badly smoked. However, the quick, efficient response of the Chester Gap Fire Department restrained the blaze to the kitchen area and saved the structure. Mrs. Davis was returning home when Hhe found the fire company going into action and pulled off the side of the road to get out of their way. When she inquired she found they were enroute to her home. The fire apparently started from the electric stove where she had left a pan on the burner, said Mrs. Davis, who also said she had never seen such excellent fire fighting. The company was at the fire within five minutes after the alarm sounded. Inspecting the damage are Bradley Williams, Mrs. Davis and Joe Williams, and an unidentified youngster.
