The marriage of Miss Carol Elizabeth O’Connor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Earl O’Connor of West Point, Virginia, and Charles William Oliver, son of Mrs. Albert Oliver Smith of North Garden, and the late William Roland Oliver was solemnized June 22 in the West Point Methodist Church.
The Reverend Glenn G. Williams of Smithfield officiated at the double ring ceremony and Holy Communion before an altar of white gladioli and white mums, and lighted tapers.
Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a gown of ivory peau de soie and Alencon lace. Her veil was a chapel length mantilla of English silk illusion edged with Alencon lace and accented by lace appliques. She carried a white prayer book topped with a cascade of white bridal roses. Her only ornaments were pearl earrings, a gift of the groom.
Mrs. Roger C. Martino of Greenbelt, Md. was matron of honor and > Miss Eleanor Earl O’Connor of West Point, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Jerry Wayne Jackson of Bassett, Va., Miss Eleanor Paige Buren of Prince George, cousin of the bride, Miss Mary Eleanor Gibson of Richmond, and Miss Linda Roberts Smith, sister of the bridegroom.
The attendants wore floor length gowns of light blue linen and matching headpieces with short bouffant veils. They carried white pom pons and blue delphinium.
