The marriage of Miss Linda Byrd Canard, daughter of Perry K. Canard of Warrenton, to Gene Marshall Dodson of Viewtown, took place Saturday, June 22, 1968. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Dodson of Viewtown.
The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Milton Switzer at three o’clock in the Gourdvine Baptist Church, Rixeyville. The church was decorated with lighted candelabra and arrangements of white gladioli and carnations against a background of evergreens.
Mrs. W. T. Beales of Culpeper was organist and presented a program of music including the wedding marches.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full length gown of white brocade satin designed with a wedding ring neckline and long sleeves. Her long train flowed from her shoulders and her hand rolled veil was attached to a crown of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white rosebuds and miniature carnations.
Mrs. Donna Bunch McKendrick of Warrenton was matron of honor. Her floor length gpwn was of pink brocade satin with a matching headpiece and she carried a nosegay of white carnations edged in pink.
Larry Wayland of Arlington was best man for his brother-in-law. Ushers were Ronald Dodson, brother of the bridegroom and Howard Pullen of Fairfax.
A reception was held in the social hall of the church. Assisting with the reception were Mrs. John Bawkey. Mrs. Russell Pullen, Mrs. Howard Pullen, Mrs. James
