with Willard Closing
When the Willard Hotel, famous Washington,I).C. landmark, closed its doors last week it meant the termination of a job held for 27 years by a native of Rappahannock County, Moses , Burke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gabe i Burke of Washington, Virginia.
After graduation from Washington High School in 1939 Moses went to Washington, D.C. and was employed by the Giant Food Store for about a month and then went to work at the Willard Hotel as a bell-boy. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor he entered the U.S. Army where he served for three years. Completing his army duty he returned to the Willard Hotel and has served there ever since, holding the position of Captain.
Mr. Burke and his wife, the former Miss Doris Jones of Way Cross-, Georgia, have a home at Accokeek, Maryland, and are the parents of six children. Miss Sharon Burke is a graduate of Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. and has a teaching position in Maryland. Miss Brenda Burke graduated from a Washington business school and is a Congressional • secretary. Miss Terry Burke is attending an IBM School. Kennedy Burke is in 9th grade and has just returned from a trip i to New Mexico which he earned 1 in a I II project. Robin and Ginger Burke are in the lower . grades of school
Mr. Burke’s future plans are , uncertain but he hopes to | continue in hotel work or with i the Government.

i , Services will be held Sunday ( morning at 11 a m. at the Hope , Hill Community Chapel. The Rev. r Raymond V a n d e v e re of , Claymont, Delaware Baptist , Church will be guest speaker. He ’ will bring a group of young people from that .church with him.
