Sophias To Open IGA Foodliner
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Sophia have purchased the Lea Store building on Gay Street in Washington, Va. and anticipate opening an IGA Foodliner Store. Tlie IGA Foodliner Stores are independently owned but servied and stocked as a chain.
Mr. and Mrs. Sophia are former residents of Warrenton and Woodbridge, but intend to make their home in Rappahannock in the near future.
Bake Sale at Sperryville
The Sperryville Youth Group will sponsor a Bake Sale on Saturday, October 12, on the porch of the Sperryville Corner Store, starting at 9 a.m. Plenty of good home baked cakes, pies and other goods will be available.

Supper at Chester Gap
There will be a Supper at the Fire Hall at Chester Gap, Saturday, October 12 starting at 5 o’clock, benefit of the Volunteer Fire Department. Everyone is invited.
Turkey Dinner
The women of the Baptist and Methodist churches of Flint Hill will serve a turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the fire hall Saturday, October 19, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets for adults are $2.00 and for children under 10, $1.00.
Color Up To 25 -
In Park This Week
Indications are that from 15 to 25 percent of color change in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Shenandoah National Park may be observed during the upcoming weekend, Superintendent R. Taylor Hoskins stated, today . _
Hoskins reported that while the Park has experienced the warm days and cool nights needed for good color, there also has been a period of nearly three weeks without appreciable rainfall and this lack of moisture has caused some premature falling of leaves. With the fall fire season approaching, Hoskins asked those who plan to camp in the Park this weekend to take special care with fire.
The Park head said reports from the field indicate that color will be approximately 15 percent of peak in the northern section of the Park with best viewing at Miles 10.6 and 12.4 and Milepost 21. The central section also will be at 15 percent with good views at Milepost 49 and Miles 51.5, 61.2, 62.8, and 64.9. In the southern areas the percentage will range from 20 to 25 percent with views equally revealing from most of me overlooks in this section
