Amissville Fire Company had
j refused to allow a dumpster unit I to be placed on the carnival [grounds there. Any suggestions [from residents will be appreciated.
The Castleton and Viewtown areas have not received service because bridge load limits will not allow the refuse truck to use roads to these areas. It was suggested that a unit be placed in the lien Venue area.
Another suggestion was that burnable refuse be restricted from deposit in the dumpsters for there are not many people in the county who would not have an incinerator or can for burning. Also considered was the limiting of garbage except where impossible to dispose of it otherwise.
Mr. Norton, School Superintendent, was not present for the meeting but had sent a request for scholarship funds for one applicant in the amount of $137.50 and the possibility of additional ones in the near future. These scholarship funds are for Rappahannock County students who are attending schools in other counties.
Current accounts were approved for payment before adjournment.

Mingle at The Shade
Bringing the newest in fashions, intermingled with the historical surroundings of “The Shade”, Washington, Virginia. The Rappahannock Hunt will sponsor a Benefit Fashion Show and High Tea on Friday, October 11th at 3:00 p.m. rain or shine.
“The Shade”, now owned by , Mr. and Mrs. Paul D. Summers, ; was a land grant in the 1700’s to 1 the Green Family. The house was ; built in 1780 by Charles Green. * During the War JBetween the States, Confederate soldiers were billeted here. It is also known to be the “Cradle of the Southern Foxhound.
"The Shade” is one of the most beautiful of the Southerr Mansions in Rappahannock"'* County and it is here that Mrs. Ruey S. Messenger, Firector of Public Relations and Fashion for Julius Garfinckel and Company of Washington D. C. will bring her top models and smartest fashions.
The public is cordially invited to attend. Tickets at $3.00 each may bo obtained by writing or calling Mrs. James Massie, ! Meadow Grove, Amissville, Va. or 1 purchased at the gate the day of the show.
