On the next day, Sept. 15 at 10:45 we departed to Sea Life Park. By way of going to the Park we were driven through the “moneyed” residential section of Honolulu. Pointed out to us was the home that Jackie Kennedy had rented for $1000 a month. Also pointed out to us as had before, Diamond Head, which dominates Waikiki. Diamond Head is Hawaii’s trademark. We reached the Park in time for lunch. After lunch we saw the special shows of Sea Life Park. Here porpoises, whales, small penguins and other birds performed. This is an experiment center and some of the performances were unbelievable. We returned via beautiful Nuuanu Pali. Judge Moffett asked me about this Lookout the day after I returned and my mind was so filled with beauty I couldn’t distinguish this at once. The Pali Lookout has Oahu’s most spectacular view. The Gap is some 1200 ft. high but there are cliffs between 2000 and 3000 ft. enclosing the green valley. The constantly shifting Kaleidoscope of greens and blues is one of the great scenic delights of the world.
When we returned to the hotel after a very brief rest, we were taken to Queen’s Surf for the traditional Hawaiian Luau-poi-roast pig, etc. What an experience! As we entered the grounds we were crowned with crowns of fern and orchids. All 1 could do for the food other than taste (and some I wished 1 hadn’t) was to eat the bananas, the tiny
