Mrs. Edmund Martin

Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Smith accompanied by Miss Donna Story of Amissville spent from Saturday until Wednesday at Parris I sland, S. C. and attended the exercises at the U. S. Marine Corps base where their son Pvt. Ellis Smith was among those who had completed basic training.

Sp/4 James R. Whitmer, son of Mrs. Charles T. Haynes of Amissville, has arrived in Vietnam for a year’s tour of duty with the 9th Aviation Battalion. His address is: Sp/4 James R. Whitmer, RA 67 063 290, H H D 9th Am Bn, APO San Francisco, Calif. 96370.

Pvt. Ellis H. Smith has completed basic training at the U. S. Marine Corps Base at Parris Island, S. C. and is stationed at Camp Le Jeune, N. C. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Smith of Viewtown. Spc/4 Isaac Christopher Parrish has completed a course in Russian at the Defense Language Institute, Presidio of Monterey, Calif. After further courses at Camp Goodfellow in Texas and Ft. Meade, Md., he will be Rationed in Sinop, Turkey.
