Jaycees To Assist
In Precinct Returns
RICHMOND—Nearly 2,200 persons, most of them Jaycees, will have a hand in reporting returns from the November 5 general election in Virginia to the nation and the world.
The Virginia Jaycees are recruiting a n ":h"r to serve as a reporter in each oi the state’s more than 2,000 precincts.
Each of these Jaycees will telephone the vote totals in his assigned precinct to a regional collection center in Philadelphia. From Philadelphia and six other collection centers across the nation the totals will be fed via high-speed data transmission lines into a computer in New York. 'Hie computer will digest the returns, tabulate them, and feed them via special Teletype circuits to subscribing news services, broadcast networks, newspapers and broadcast stations across the nation.
Backstopping the precinct reporters will be a separate team of reporters who will report returns on a city-wide or county-wide basis in the same manner. This team is being recruited chiefly from the staffs
