The first action taken by the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors when they convened Friday for the October meeting was the drafting of Resolutions concerning the recently deceased member, E. M. Estes of Piedmont District. The resolutions were to be placed in the minutes of the meeting and a copy of same sent to Mrs. Estes. One animal claim presented by the dog warden was tabled until a subsequent meeting, since there was not positive proof of damage by dogs but rather indications of a bear attack.
A discussion on the growing number of bear and extensive damage done by them in the county resulted in the Board requesting the Clerk to contact state and national animal from the National Park legislators. It is believed that bear and deer, both of which do damage in the county, come from the sanctuary of the National Park, and there are no funds to cover damage which either might do.
Mr. James Skeens, resident engineer, reported that road standards in subdivisions had been revised and upgraded and that state requirements tied in nicely with those of the county. The report made clear the regulations necessary before roads in a subdivision can be taken into the state system.
He also reported that work on Route 642 from Viewtown toward Amissville had begun. The right of way is being cleared and burned and initial steps in culvert construction have been taken.

The guest speaker for the 11 a.m. worship service at Fores! Grove Baptist Church Sunday will be Mr. Rudy Lane, a lay speakei from Fredericksburg. The public is invited to attend.
Cookout and Nature Walk
