Rumblings and grumblings and rumors about unfair, haphazard tax assessments are heard in all sections of the county today. My supervisor, Mr. Miller, informs me that most of the rumors are just not true; however, he does say that the “Scuffle Hill-Hamden Hall” scoop is true but that now a change has been made here and “Scuffle Hill” is now assessed af $12,000 instead of $18,000 and that “Hamden Hall” is nowassessed at $20,000 instead of $15,000.
At a recent visit to the office of the Board of Assessors, I found the following houses listed thus: our own house - $15,000; Col. McN ear’s - $15,000; Lane’s “Clover Hill” $15,000; Thornton Hill - $15,000; Nelson Nethers’ - $15,000; R. W. Miller’s (F.T. Valley) - $15,000; Carson
