When papa was about ready to go into town to do the weekly shopping, mama would copje out to the barnyard and ask, “Are (sounded like ‘air’) you goin’ to kiss me goodbye?” Papa would go over to her like.ja bashful boy, and give her a kiss. When he returned the children received individual bags of stick candy, mama got chocolates. For more than sixty years this situation endured. When papa left us, I think a little of mama died with him. She never quite got over his passing, she thought he was near her or wished for her to come on home. I hope that in God’s house ot many rooms they are near each other. Is that the kind of love tire man was singing about?
They say that God does not change, that His love for us is an abiding love. How about our love for Him, is it the same as it used to be? When I see so many empty pews in His house on Sundays, I have my doubts. Are we putting other gojds before HIM; such as televisto'fi,' tfile'golf'course, the1 open road or just plain old indifference?
He needs us, but we need Him ! more.
