Brenda Printz was named 4-H Girl of the Year and Ricky Gore was selected 4-H Boy of the year at the annual Achievement Night program held Friday at the courthouse in Washington. Other pins and certificates of achievement were awarded to 4-H club members in Rappahannock County. The achievement night program was opened with the call to order by Jeanne St. Clair and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by David Thornhill. The 4-H pledge was led by Jim Massie and Wendy Davis led the group in singing “4-H Trail”. Faye Carter had a roll call of all clubs and noted the number of members present from each.
Lee Brumback II, Assistant County Agent, gave a talk and showed slides on Viet Nam and work in which he was involved in that country.
Brenda Printz is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Printz of Amissville. She has completed six years of 4-H club work and special projects have included electricity, home beautification, grooming, foods and nutrition, clothing, room improvement. She was also given the “1 Dare You” award.
Richard Gore, Jr. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gore of Estes and has been in 4-H work for four years. He has been outstanding in the fields of Automotive, Forestry, Electric, Entomology, and Small Motors.
Other awards presented included general achievement recognition to Amy Palmer and Charla Ann Sisk. Charla also was recognized in Food and Nutrition
