forestry personnel asK tne cooperation of the public when burning anything outside the home. By burning during the legal hours, the danger of a fire escaping is not as great as earlier in the day. Even when burning after 4 o’clock the fire should be attended and completely extinguished before leaving. Burn on an afternoon when the wind is calm and the air is moist. This reduces the chance of blowing embers starting a fire in nearby grass or woodland.
The law will be enforced through the aid of forest fire lookout towers, airplane patrol, and all personnel of the Virginia Division of Forestry.
