Two Local Business Firms Are Robbed

Two business firms in Rappahannock County were robbed last Thursday night or early Friday morning. The I.G.A. Store in Washington and Johnson’s Grocery in Sperryville were entered and some money and merchandise taken. Missing from the I.G.A. was about $200 in cash and one check, cigarettes and possibly some beer and wine. Entry was gained through the front door which had been pried open with a heavy tool or bar.

A small amount of money, cigarettes and billfolds were taken from the Sperryville store. Numerous robberies have been occurring in the surrounding area with several reported Sunday night in Front Royal.

Forest Grove Revival

Revival service will be held at Forest Grove Baptist Church, Monday through Friday July 27-August 1. The Rev. William Harrison, pastor of Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church, Sperryville, will be guest speaker. Services begin at 7:45, and there will be special music each evening. The public is invited to attend.

James Clatterbuck of Flint Hill operating a 69 International pickup was making a left turn into a driveway. Mrs. Inez Renee Stump of Morgantown, W. Va. attempted to pass and struck the left of the truck with her car, a 63 Chevrolet. Damage to the truck was estmated at $300 and to the Stump car at $450. No charges were made.
