Amissville Little League baseball team shutout the Jeffersonton team in a game July 19 at the home diamond. The Amissville team sponsored by the Amissville Ruritan Club got off to a slow start early in the season, but seems to be making it up now. Mike Smoot pitched the no hit game. He allowed one walk and struck out fourteen batters. The score was 7-0.
Frankie William led the hitting attack with a triple and two singles, and Larry Clatterbuck contributed two singles which drove in three runs.
Tapps Entertain With Lawn Dinner
Mr. and Mrs. John A. Tapp entertained at their home near Amissville Sunday with a lawn picnic in honor of their son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. William Tapp of San Francisco, Calif, who are visiting here. Guests included Capt. and Mrs. L. B. Stuart, Mrs. Herbert Lehman, Mrs. Charles Larimer and Capt. and Mrs. Glen Lathrop, all of Amissville; Miss Rita Whitford of Boring, Oregon who is spending the summer with her uncle and aunt, the Lathrops; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Batchelder and family of Alexandria; Mr. and Mrs. Maddox Tapp, Front Royal; Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Hall, Howard Bryant, Mrs. Fannie McQuinn. Mrs. Mary Collins, Mrs. Crissy Hall, John Hackley and Mr. and Mrs. George Burch, all of Arlington; and Mr. and Mrs. Jones Green of Midland.
